Painting Effect Tutorial

This tutorial will teach you how to add realistic painting effect to any picture.

Step 1

The first step of this photoshop tutorial is to make your image black and white. The easy way to accomplish this is go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

Step 2

The next step important step is to duplicate the original layer. An easy way of doing this is to right click on the original layer and press Duplicate Layer.

The next step is to apply Find Edges Filter to the duplicated layer that you created in step 2. Go to Filter > Stylize > Find Edges.

The final step is to set the overlay mode of this layer to Soft Light.
